Fino al 27 ottobre si potrà visitare presso la Triennale di Milano la mostra "Porto Poetic", una panoramica sulle figure chiave dell'architettura portoghese Álvaro Siza e Eduardo Souto de Moura assieme agli architetti Adalberto Dias, Camilo Rebelo and Tiago Pimentel, Carlos Castanheira, Cristina Guedes e Francisco Vieira de Campos, Isabel Furtado e João Pedro Serôdio, João Mendes Ribeiro, José Carvalho Araújo e Nuno Brandão Costa.

Lotus 152 – Capability. Un nuovo approccio all'architettura?

Si può estendere all’architettura il cosiddetto “approccio delle capacità” di A. Sen?  Il criterio valutativo del benessere per cui la ricchezza e lo sviluppo di una comunità non sono calcolati unicamente dalle quantità del PIL?  In architettura la capability si manifesta quando un progetto contribuisce ad accrescere le potenzialità di una data condizione non limitandosi all’esecuzione pedissequa degli enunciati quantitativi di un programma.

All’incontro, capitanato da Daniele Lago, head designer ed amministratore delegato dell’azienda, parteciperanno anche Franco Purini, Pierpaolo Ricatti, Flavio Albanese e Guido Cadrini.

TRIGGERING REALITY. New conditions for art and architecture in the Netherlands, proposed by the Centro per l'arte contemporanea Luigi Pecci in Prato, Italy from the 16th of December 2012 to the 10th of March 2013, the reality of space is questioned, investigated, reproduced, represented and criticized by artists and architects that have long searched to redefine themselves and their role in society.

La mostra "triggering reality. Nuove condizioni per l'arte e l'architettura in Olanda". proposta dal Centro per l'arte contemporanea Luigi Pecci di Prato dal 16 dicembre al 10 marzo 2013, racconta la realtà dello spazio contemporaneo, messo alla prova, investigato, riprodotto da artisti e architetti in cerca di una ridefinizione del loro stesso ruolo sociale.

Eco-resort of Parque de Pedras Salgadas

The new eco-resort of Parque de Pedras Salgadas in the North of Portugal was recently completed by the architects Luís Rebelo de Andrade and Diogo Aguiar. It consists of a set of small houses suspended in pillars in perfect harmony with the surrounding outstanding nature.

Elding Oscarson

Elding Oscarson is the joint operation between Johan Oscarson and Jonas Elding. Jonas Elding was an associate at Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa (SANAA) in Tokyo for seven years, during which time he led the design for the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York City. Johan Oscarson was an associate at Sandellsandberg in Stockholm for seven years, and led the designs for Villa Nilsson and the interior for the OMX headquarters. The collaboration combines substantial experience from employments in Sweden and Japan, covering both local and international architecture, from large projects to small ones – museums, theaters, private houses, interiors, furniture, and product design. 

"We want to continue to challenge an eclectic array of architecture and design tasks, to see how our joint effort can contribute to new solutions, ways to live, and spaces to enjoy. We feel successful when we surprise ourselves; when our projects are highly relevant to the user, the site, or other parameters that make every project unique, real, and story-telling."

Farewell to Oscar Niemeyer

Born in 1907, Oscar Ribeiro de Almeida Niemeyer Soares Filho died yesterday (december 5th). He is considered one of the key figures in the development of modern architecture. His exploration of the aesthetic possibilities of reinforced concrete and use of unconventional, abstract patterns were highly infuential on the architecture of the late 20th and early 21st centuries.

L'Italia di Le Corbusier

Le Corbusier, pseudonym of Charles-Edouard Jeanneret-Gris: architect, sculptor, painter, brilliant thinker of his time, a father of modern town planning and a master of the Modern Movement along with Mies van der Rohe, Gropius, Lloyd Wright and Aalto. MAXXI Architettura is devoting to this figure the exhibition L’Italia di Le Corbusier curated by Marida Talamona (18 October 2012 – 17 February 2013).
Le Corbusier, dal 1920 pseudonimo di Charles-Édouard Jeanneret: architetto, scultore, pittore, geniale pensatore del suo tempo, padre della moderna urbanistica e maestro del Movimento Moderno con Mies van der Rohe, Gropius, Lloyd Wright e Aalto. Restructura

A Torino dal 29 novembre al 2 dicembre torna il salone-evento dedicato all’edilizia e all’architettura sostenibile. L’obiettivo: raccontare agli operatori del settore e agli utenti finali, i privati, gli aggiornamenti sui sistemi costruttivi e le novità sui materiali e le attrezzature, concentrando sempre di più l’attenzione su eco-sostenibilità ed efficienza energetica.

The building is well insulated and heated by wood only. There is no electricity or running water. The simple and ascetic life at the countryside differs dramatically from the hectic city life.

L'evento di inserisce nella manifestazione "Vivere il design", che dal 6 al 21 ottobre propone convegni, mostre, workshop e spettacoli che si innestano nel tessuto cittadino, con l’obiettivo di coinvolgere attivamente il pubblico sui temi del design. Si indagheranno le possibilità di interazione fra cittadini, progettisti e amministratori pubblici per la creazione di città e ambienti migliori e più vivibili.
