WHAT'S NEW: SCEG

SCEG operates from Turin and was founded in 2009 by Stefano Carera and Eirini Giannakopoulou. The two young architects, Carera was born in 1984 and Giannakopoulou in 1983, recently took part in two competitions, obtaining good results. Their practise always tries to establish a constant and reciprocal dialogue between art and architecture. Their references in simple archetype forms are their elements and their vocabulary of designing. Utopia and theory are the challenges of their research and their diagrammatic analysis of different visions of architecture.

SCEG ha sede a Torino ed è stato fondato nel 2009 da Stefano Carera e Eirini Giannakopoulou. I due giovani architetti, Carera è del 1984 e Giannakopoulou del 1983, hanno partecipato di recente a due concorsi, ottenendo degli ottimi risultati.

Nei loro lavori si riscontra sempre un dialogo serrato tra arte e architettura. Il riferimento alle forme archetipe è un elemento fondamentale del loro lavoro e del loro vocabolario creativo. L’utopia e la teoria sono gli obiettivi delle loro ricerche e il loro strumento di analisi per diverse visioni di architettura.

LAGO AND THE PERFECT BED

August 2nd, by the Brenta riverside, 10 designers and a challenge: designing the perfect bed. Equipped with pencils and with natural elements, they designed and created  the protitype. This is the last venture by LAGO.
2 agosto, sulle rive del fiume Brenta, 10 designer ed una sfida: progettare il letto prefetto. Armati di matite e degli elementi offerti dalla natura, hanno progettato e realizzato il prototipo. Questa l'ultima iniziativa promossa da LAGO.

NEW TALENTS: SEBASTIAN HERKNER

Sebastian Herkner was born in 1981 in Germany. He studied product design at the Offenbach University of Art and Design, already focusing during his studies on designing objects and furniture merging various cultural contexts, combining new technologies with traditional craftsmanship in order to highlight the beauty of materials and draw renewed attention to small details. Since founding his own design studio in Offenbach am Main in 2006, he has designed products for manufacturers such as ClassiCon, De Vorm, Moroso and nanoo, as well as working on interior design projects and for exhibitions and museums. His designs received multiple prizes, for example the 2011 German Design Award in the Newcomer category.

Sebastian Herkner è nato nel 1981 in Germania. Ha studiato design del prodotto presso l'Università di Arte e Design di Offenbach, dove si è da subito focalizzato sulla progettazione di oggetti e mobili dove si fondono diversi contesti culturali. Combinando le nuove tecnologie con la tradizione artigianale riesce ad evidenziare la bellezza dei materiali e a riportare attenzione ad ogni dettaglio. Dalla fondazione del suo studio di design a Offenbach am Main, nel 2006, ha disegnato prodotti per aziende come ClassiCon, De Vorm, Moroso e nanoo, e contemporaneamente si è dedicato a progetti di interior design. Le sue opere hanno vinto vari premi, come il German Design Award nella categoria “emergenti”, nel 2011.
